Violating the children
By Joe Williams III
I was stunned with the recent revelations of child rapes across the country, a host of priests molesters, a San Diego coach charged with violating students, and a child killing case that drew international attention.
We use complex language and words like violations, molestations, pederasty, ect. But in reality, a child raped is a child destroyed. A child raped by an adult is a crime against nature and humanity. Rapes against children are the most inhuman acts of terror and abuse on the planet. Think about it. A child has an innocent mind. They live on one side of town and dont have a clue about the other half of town. In fact, in most instances, they are too young to even distinguish reality from make believe.
Imagine, a grown person violationing a child. Its like a tiger attacking an old, helpless elder. Its like a plane crashing to the ground with a full crew that has lost all control. The raping of children is not something that should happen. Rape should not happen to anyone, but to a child, its despicable.
How did we get to this place in our human development? The first answer is that we have lost sight of society as a collective. Most of us do not know our neighbors on a first name basic. We have become to busy to care about each other.
We have become too sophisticated to socialize with our neighbors and friends. As a child, the whole neighborhood was my baby-sitter (or parents). Weather it was good or bad, everybody was into everybody elses business. Today, for most children, there is no sense of collective community.
I declare that the sexual abuse of children has its foundation in our government agencies and polices. When the government endures wrong, and corporations support greed, and things and commodities become more important than people, then the sacredness of children in society is lost.
We have come to a crossroad in society where pleasure and objects are more important that spiritual and moral principles. In society, lifes goals are gauged by how many material possessions one acquires. Material goods and personal pleasure has become the order of the day. So, many adults, both male and female, turn to sexual abusing of children as a means of satisfying their distorted and perverse pleasures. The children have become sex toys.
In order to turn around the moral decay of society, we must develop higher principles and standards. We must create a society where people are more important that things (objects). And, we must educate ourselves on the difference between children and things.
We live in an era were we are all overworked, and the kids are being raised by the television, the teacher, the baby sitter, and their peers. We live in an era where many parents are not fit to raise children. In some households, the children would be more secure in a combat zone. Because of many household environments, 14 and 15 year olds are mature as many adults. These children have been cheated out of the innocence of their childhood.
We, in society, must develop a social movement to protect the children. We must bring these issues to the forefront of society. There must be a radical agenda for child safety. We must call government officials to account for these heinous attacks against children. We must march within our community and cleanse it of this plague. We must develop safe havens where children can go and tell their stories. But we must also make clear to the violators, the abuse of children will no longer be tolerated. We must move from self-gratification to moral and spiritual convictions. We must move from a society of greed and possessions to a society of care, love, and the true expression of the human family.
